Pita was
started by 3 old school mates. The boys had noticed that most "fast"
food in Britain was unhealthy and often served from classless and
uninspiring outlets. The idea was to provide the finest quality Pita
sandwiches, smoothies and coffee, in modern and stylish
surroundings.
Headingley
The 1st shop
opened up on the 5th November
2003 in Headingley, Leeds, and was almost an instant hit with the discerning, mainly
student population of Headingley, who appreciated having a healthy but
tasty product available at almost any time of the day or night.
Reading
After the success of shop 1,
the boys were keen to open another. After a year long search for suitable
locations, they found a suitable shop in Reading. Using the same styling
as the Leeds shop, although with some tweaks to the branding, the shop in
Friar Street opened on the 11th July, 2005.
The Product
What makes Pita different is
the bread we use. It's a soft, round pitta bread that can be filled with
ingredients, then perfectly rolled into a convenient meal. Because the
bread is thin, the resulting product is lower in carbohydrate and
therefore ideal for those who want to stay healthy, and because every Pita
can be crammed full of fresh salads, you can be sure that your body is
getting the vitamins it needs.
